Practical guides
Arrange a family check-in in China from overseas
A thoughtful visit starts with your relative's wishes. A local helper can support an agreed social visit or practical task while keeping the arrangements clear for everyone involved.

Confirm consent and a local contact
Discuss the idea with your family first. Confirm who will welcome the visitor and which activities and updates everyone is comfortable with. For a child, arrangements must be made with their parent or guardian. Share only the information needed for the agreed visit, and confirm the person receiving private photos or notes.
Choose practical, specific tasks
Examples include bringing agreed groceries, sitting down for a conversation, helping arrange a family video call or reporting an agreed household issue. State the city, date, visit length, access contact and any purchases. Availability and travel costs depend on the location. Social visits are separate from professional healthcare, emergency response or specialist care.
Plan a respectful update
Agree whether an update should be a private message, permitted photos or a scheduled call across time zones. Ask the helper to distinguish observations from assumptions. If a visit cannot go ahead, agree who should be contacted and whether to rearrange it. Repeat visits can be discussed after the first handover, with their own schedule, scope and quote.
Your first-message checklist

- City, suitable date, visit length and time zones.
- Agreed activities, purchases and boundaries.
